Personal Reflection/ Critical Evaluation
I have enjoyed the challenge of creating a blog, as it required me to learn a new skill, and provided me with an opportunity for professional development in a topic which I am interested in.
I also think a blog is an excellent way of health promotion, as it can be read by many people worldwide.
This topic has meaning to me, as I have a family history of CVA, and have seen first hand the benefits of occupational therapy rehabilitation in improving quality of life. I am very interested in CVA rehabilitation due to the meaning it has to me, and have enjoyed researching alternative interventions to add to my occupational therapist tool kit.

Prior to writing this blog, I had little to no knowledge about the use of yoga for OT rehabilitation with individuals post- CVA, however through writing this blog I have expanded my understanding of the effects of a CVA, and the role of the OT in improving individual's quality of life post- CVA.
This research also identified how yoga may be used in occupational therapy intervention to help individuals gain strength, improve flexibility and balance, and help decrease depression and anxiety post- CVA.
I have recently began yoga classes myself, after reading about the many benefits that yoga has on one's health wellbeing.
My aim for this blog, was to explore the therapeutic use of yoga in improving physical and psychological functioning in everyday occupations post- CVA, and demonstrate how yoga may be incorporated in occupational therapy intervention.
I hope this blog has provided you with insight into how yoga may be utilised by occupational therapists to promote engagement in everyday occupations post- CVA.
Thank you for reading my blog,
Kate
